- The US Permanent Representative to the UN announced the presence of "powerful weapons" in Washington.
U.S. Permanent Representative to NATO Matthew Whitaker said that the United States has "powerful weapons" that have not yet been transferred to Ukraine. He announced this on October 9 at a security conference in Riga.
"We have capabilities that are not currently being used on the battlefield in Ukraine, but they are intimidating, powerful and can literally cause serious damage," Bloomberg quoted him as saying.
Whitaker added that these funds can be transferred to Kiev if necessary.
On October 6, US President Donald Trump announced that he had actually made a decision on the supply of Tomahawk missiles to the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), but did not announce it. According to the American leader, first of all, he plans to figure out exactly how the allocated shells will be used. At the same time, as emphasized in The Washington Post, if the head of the White House nevertheless decides to supply Tomahawk, this will mark his choice of a way to escalate the conflict.
On October 8, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova called on Washington to show restraint in this matter. According to her, a positive decision on this issue is fraught not only with "spinning the spiral of confrontation," but also with causing irreparable damage to Russian-American relations.
