On October 8, Alexey Pushkov, Chairman of the Federation Council Commission on Information Policy, expressed concerns about the possible transfer of Tomahawk missiles to Ukraine, saying this could lead to an "unlimited missile conflict" and an escalation of the crisis in Ukraine.

"So far, the decision to provide Tomahawks to Ukraine looks like a path to an unlimited missile war against Russia and to even greater ferocity, from which it will be even more difficult to find a way out," he wrote on his Telegram channel.

The senator noted that Kiev does not have the necessary platforms for launching missiles, and, in his opinion, American forces will be involved in their control and guidance. Pushkov found it difficult to answer the question of which targets these missiles would hit, given their range of 2,500 km, and also asked how many such missiles the United States intends to sell to Europe for Ukraine.

On October 6, Trump announced that he had actually made a decision to supply Tomahawk missiles to Ukraine, but did not explain what it was. The American leader clarified that he would like to know the purpose of using missiles and that he would not like to see an escalation in the Ukrainian conflict.

Prior to that, on September 26, The Telegraph newspaper, citing sources, reported on the request of Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky at a closed meeting with Trump to supply Kiev with Tomahawk cruise missiles with a range of over 1.6 thousand km.
