Deputies of the Legislative Assembly of the Nenets Autonomous Okrug (NAO) at the session elected Irina Gekht, acting head of the NAO, as governor. 16 votes of parliamentarians were given for it. The relevant information was published on the website of the regional Assembly of Deputies on September 14.

In accordance with federal law, the head of the Nenets Autonomous Okrug is elected by deputies of the district assembly from three candidates submitted by the President of Russia. The candidates of the acting governor of the NAO Irina Gekht, deputy of the Legislative Assembly of the NAO Mikhail Raina and deputy of the Council of the Zapolyarny district Tatyana Antipina were presented. Three deputies voted for Ryan.

On March 18, Russian President Vladimir Putin appointed Irina Gekht, former Chairman of the government of the Zaporizhia Region, acting governor of the Nenets Autonomous Okrug (NAO). The head of state accepted the early resignation of the head of the region, Yuri Bezdudny.
