Alexander Zakharchenko's memory was honored in Donetsk

The memory of the first head of the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR), Alexander Zakharchenko, was honored in Donetsk. Footage of the laying of flowers at the place of his death on August 31 is published by Izvestia.

Local residents, friends, relatives and like-minded people of Zakharchenko laid flowers at the former Separ cafe, where he died in an explosion in 2018. Representatives of the Young Guard of United Russia organization also came to honor his memory.

After that, people came to the amphitheater, where they put up a canvas completely covered with black paint. Passers-by were asked to write in white marker any word that is associated with Alexander Zakharchenko.

In addition, they also presented a photo exhibition with photographs of the first head of the DPR.

Zakharchenko died on August 31, 2018, in an explosion at the Separ cafe in the center of Donetsk. The authorities of the republic recognized the incident as a terrorist act and accused Kiev of the assassination attempt.

Alexander Zakharchenko was born on June 26, 1976 in Donetsk, Ukrainian SSR. He graduated from Donetsk College of Industrial Automation with a degree in mining electromechanics.

He started his career at the mine, working as a mining electrician. After that, he led large production teams. Zakharchenko became the head of the DPR on November 2, 2014, gaining 77.5% of the vote during the elections.
