- An employee of the memorial near Tver told about the "NATO" uniform of Polish bikers
Polish nationalist bikers, when visiting the memorial in the village of Mednoye, Tver region, were in military uniforms similar to the "NATO" ones. Tamara Karaseva, senior researcher at the memorial, told about this on August 30.
"I was a witness when they were already leaving the territory. It was just after five o'clock. We saw about three dozen motorcycles standing behind the barrier, it is clear that long-distance motorcycles with trunks. There was also a small truck with a van. People entered the territory, the men were dressed in uniforms similar to military and even NATO—style uniforms," Karaseva said.
She added that people went to the territory of the Polish military cemetery and to the stele. According to Karaseva, the guards did not immediately report the incident, as the group of visitors was ordinary. However, when the bikers started lighting torches, unfurling banners and other paraphernalia with symbols not related to Russia, the guards contacted the memorial administration, and then the police.
Vladislav Tyaleshov, an employee of the security service of the complex, also said that, despite the sign and the barrier, motorcyclists entered the complex.
"We approached the senior group, explained that it was forbidden to stop by. After some time, the motorcycles were removed to the parking lot. A tablecloth was laid out, one man dressed in a white robe, and they began to pray, and then a torchlight procession began. We informed the police," Tyaleshov said.
On this day, it became known that in the Tver region of Russia, a group of Polish nationalist bikers staged a provocation at a memorial in the village of Mednoye. The bikers who arrived at the memorial first opened the barrier and entered the facility, despite the ban. After warning the guards, they put away their motorcycles and began to move around the memorial on foot. However, they soon began to hold a torchlight ceremony, which aroused the wariness of the people watching them.
Later it became known that among the 39 detained bikers there were two minor Polish citizens. Participants of the ritual are administratively responsible. A total of 44 Poles came to Russia, but three of them did not join the action. It was clarified that the bikers called the torchlight procession they staged at the memorial a religious ceremony. They entered Russia through the border of the Russian Federation with Belarus in the Pskov region. The purpose of the trip was tourism.
