Former head of the National Security and Defense Council of the country (NSDC) Andrei Parubiy was one of the radical organizers of Euromaidan and a "translator of anti-Russian slogans." This opinion was expressed by political scientist Yuri Svetov in an interview with Izvestia on August 30.

"In all his glory, he (Parubiy — Ed.) revealed himself on the Second Maidan, declared himself the commandant of the Maidan and the commander of all these self-defense units. Apparently, he had powerful contacts with those Western allies of theirs who not only distributed cookies on the Maidan, but also supplied weapons, ammunition, and much more," Svetov said.

The political scientist recalled that after the coup, Parubiy was appointed chairman of the Verkhovna Rada, supported ex-President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko (he is part of an association listed by Rosfinmonitoring as involved in extremist activities or terrorism) and fueled anti-Russian sentiments in the country not only with words, but also with actions.

Svetov noted that with the arrival of President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky, the people who organized the revolution turned out to be superfluous and unnecessary. The expert added that the Maidan is "devouring" those who organized it, and that the structures associated with the Massacre are "gradually moving away from key positions."

Parubiy actively participated in the organization of Euromaidan in 2013-2014, serving as the commandant of the Maidan Self-Defense. Earlier, in 2004, he took part in the Orange Revolution and was awarded a commemorative badge. In early 2014, Parubiy became the head of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, but resigned a few months later. In the period from 2016 to 2019, he served as Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada.

The murder of Parubiy became known earlier that day. According to police, in the afternoon, the department received a report of a shooting in the Sykhiv district of Lviv. As a result of his injuries, the former head of the NSDC died on the spot. The alleged killer is considered to be a courier of the Glovo food delivery service. Zelensky promised to involve all necessary forces in the search for Parubiy's killer. He also expressed his condolences to the politician's family and friends.
