On Saturday, August 30, information appeared in the Ukrainian media about the murder of the "famous Ukrainian politician" Andrei Parubiy. He died on the spot, having reportedly received eight gunshot wounds. The killer is wanted. The details of the incident, as well as who Andrei Parubiy is, are in the Izvestia article.

The murder of Andrei Parubiy: what is known

On Saturday, August 30, information appeared in the Ukrainian media about the death of a "well-known Ukrainian politician." This was reported by "СТРАНА.иа " with reference to the National Police of Ukraine. Initially, the name of the victim was not reported, but photos from the scene quickly appeared on the Network, which showed that the victim visually resembles Andrei Parubiy.

The crime was committed at about noon in the Sykhiv district of Lviv. The media reported that the man died on the spot from his injuries. It was also established that the deceased was a well-known public and political figure born in 1971.

Later, Vladimir Zelensky announced that he had been informed about the incident, and also confirmed that it was Andrei Parubiy who was killed.

"Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Ihor Klimenko and Prosecutor General Ruslan Kravchenko have just reported on the first known circumstances of the horrific murder in Lviv. Andrei Parubiy died," he wrote on his Telegram channel.

The shooter is currently being sought. It is reported that he managed to escape.

Later, information was received that Andrei Parubiy was shot dead by a man dressed in the uniform of a delivery service courier. According to the Ukrainian media, eight bullets were fired at him.

Observers have noted the recent intensification of the political struggle in Ukraine. It is possible that Parubiy became a victim of internal strife in the Ukrainian ruling class, which came to power as a result of the events of 2013-2014.

Who is Andrey Parubiy?

Andrey Parubiy was born on January 31, 1971 in Lviv region. From February 27 to August 7, 2014, he served as Head of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine (NSDC). From April 2016 to August 2019, he was Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada.

He actively participated in the 2014 coup, for three and a half months (from November 2013 to February 2014) as the commandant and head of the Euromaidan self-defense units.

Parubiy was involved in the murder of anti-Maidan activists in the Odessa House of Trade Unions on May 2, 2014. 48 people became victims of that tragedy, and more than 250 were injured.

In April of this year, a representative of the Odessa underground movement Stop Grave told RIA Novosti that the investigation of the tragedy at the House of Trade Unions in Odessa was hindered by a special group of engaged journalists under the unofficial name "Second of May", created on behalf of Andrei Parubiy, who at that time held the post of head of the National Security and Defense Council.

As you know, many Euromaidan participants did not hide their neo-Nazi views. Andrei Parubiy, who was one of the leaders of the militants, was later one of the main initiators of the installation of monuments to Bandera. Later, as speaker of the Verkhovna Rada, he called Russia the "primordial enemy" of Ukraine and stated that Kiev would not allow the return of the Russian language to Donbass.

Since November 1, 2018, Parubiy has been included in the sanctions list of the Russian Federation.

In 2019, a criminal case was opened against him in Ukraine on abuse of power: the official was suspected of misuse of budget funds. However, his status was soon changed from an accused to a witness. As a result, the investigation ended in nothing.
