Russians were warned about blocking cash withdrawals in case of atypical behavior
Starting from September 1, Russian banks will limit cash withdrawals over 50,000 rubles in case of suspicious activity. The restriction is valid for 48 hours, and if necessary, you can receive a large amount at the bank's office using your passport. This was announced on August 29 by an expert of the NIFI project of the Ministry of Finance of the Russian Federation "My Finances.Russian Federation" Olga Daineko.
Daineko added that the bank may become suspicious if unusual activity was recorded within six hours before the withdrawal of cash: calls, SMS messages, instant messengers, notifications from the Gosuslugi portal, calls from strangers, changing the phone number for authorization, the presence of malware on the device, as well as multiple unsuccessful attempts to withdraw funds.
In addition, starting from September 1, Russians will be able to appoint a trusted person to confirm transfers and cash withdrawals. The decision to confirm or reject the operation must be made within 12 hours, and you can opt out of the option only one day after submitting the application.
Earlier, on August 21, the Central Bank of Russia identified signs of fraudulent transactions when withdrawing cash from ATMs. These include uncharacteristic behavior when withdrawing money, a change in phone conversation activity six hours before the operation, withdrawing money within a day after applying for a loan or loan, and an increase in the cash withdrawal limit.
