An earthquake of magnitude 5.3 occurred near a railway junction in the Novosibirsk region. This was announced on July 18 on the website of the Altai-Sayan branch of the United Geophysical Service of the Russian Academy of Sciences Research Center.

"Operational notification of a seismic event. Hearth time GMT (UTC): July 17, 2026. <... Latitude: 53.31. Longitude: 77.86. Magnitude: 5.3," the publication says.

It is noted that the intensity at the epicenter was 6.8.

On July 15, the Kamchatka branch of the Federal Research Center of the Unified Geophysical Service of the Russian Academy of Sciences reported that two earthquakes of magnitude 6.0 and 5.7 occurred off the coast of Kamchatka. Later, the research center also reported two more earthquakes of magnitude 5.0 and 4.5.
