According to the expert, this is a powerful but extremely expensive engine. It is characterized by high fuel consumption, complex layout, problems with cooling, oil burning and the placement of turbines in the collapse of the unit.

"Often, the buyer is bribed by the low cost of a BMW with such an engine, but for an unprepared buyer, both morally and financially, the cost of maintenance and repair may be unbearable," the specialist noted.

The expert called the three-liter diesel engine of the Land Rover/Jaguar AJD-V6/Lion family another expensive engine to maintain. The unit has a negative reputation due to critical design flaws, problems related to oil starvation, reliability of the crankshaft and attachments.

The specialist also included Hyundai and Kia engines with G4KD/G4KE indexes in the top 3, which were installed on Sportage, Tucson, Santa Fe, Optima and Sonata models. The main problem is the tendency to bully, as a result of which the engine may require major repairs by the time it reaches 100,000 km.
