During the last use of Oreshnik in Ukraine, Russia wanted to see the result of the attack, so they "hit where it was convenient." This was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin at a meeting with the heads of international news agencies on June 5.

"If it concerns the White Church <...>, then our drones flew in there, into this barn, which was hit, and just looked at how the diluting blocks were placed. We counted down to a millimeter," he said.

As the president explained, obtaining these characteristics is necessary for making future decisions on the full-scale use of the Oreshnik system.

Military expert Viktor Litovkin told Izvestia on May 25 that the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) lack the technical capabilities to protect military installations from group attacks by Russian hypersonic weapons, including the Oreshnik missile system. According to him, the Oreshnik is capable of hitting targets at a distance of up to 5.5 thousand km.

On May 24, the Russian Defense Ministry announced that Russian military personnel, in response to Kiev's terrorist attacks against civilian infrastructure, launched a massive retaliatory strike, including the Oreshnik missile system, at Ukrainian military command facilities.

On April 22, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky announced the risk of a critical shortage of ammunition for air defense systems. He admitted that against the background of the fighting in the Middle East, Kiev has such a shortage of missiles for Patriot air defense systems that "it couldn't be worse."
