The New Square in the Central Administrative District of Moscow has begun to update the road surface. This was announced on June 3 by the portal of the Mayor of Moscow. mos.ru .

"More than 8 thousand square meters of asphalt will be renovated at the facility. 60 specialists and 40 pieces of equipment are involved in the work," the article says.

Employees of GBU "Highways" will carry out milling of the old pavement, repair of inspection wells, rain intake grilles and curbs. After that, new asphalt concrete will be laid and the markings will be applied. The last time the road surface on the square was renewed was in 2022, and the service life of asphalt is three years.

Repairs are necessary due to the formation of ruts, which reduces traffic safety. The work is carried out at night to minimize inconveniences for drivers and pedestrians. In addition to the New Square, the road services plan to update the asphalt on five other sections of the Kremlin Ring: Moskvoretskaya Embankment, Mokhovaya Street, Borovitskaya, Staraya and Lubyanskaya squares.

On May 19, the press service of the Russian Environmental Operator (REO) public law company reported that 11 thousand km of roads were built and repaired in Russia last year using recycled materials. In 2024, this figure was only 9 thousand km. In 2025, experts used more than 14 million tons of materials, which included recycled asphalt concrete, metallurgical and ash and slag materials, recycled rubber, as well as crushed stone and soils obtained from recycled raw materials.
