On May 20, the Federation Council ratified the treaty between Russia and South Ossetia on deepening allied cooperation. The plenary session of the upper house is being broadcast on the website.

The document is aimed at ensuring regional peace and stability, conducting a coordinated foreign and defense and security policy. The agreement provides for the improvement of socio-economic conditions, the development of infrastructure and human potential, as well as the harmonization of legal norms. The parties undertake obligations to create a single economic space, gradually integrate energy and transport systems, communications and telecommunications systems.

In addition, the document provides for the expansion of cooperation in the labor, social and cultural spheres, as well as the promotion of the free movement of capital, goods, services and labor.

At a meeting with the republic's leader Alan Gagloev on May 9, Russian President Vladimir Putin noted that relations between Russia and South Ossetia are developing in a positive way. The heads of state signed an alliance agreement between Russia and South Ossetia.
