The defense of the nephew of actress Ekaterina Barnabas Georgy did not appeal the verdict in the case of attempted fraud on a large scale. It follows from the materials available to Izvestia on May 15.

According to the investigation, in February 2025, George Barnabas was supposed to receive 350 thousand rubles from an 87-year-old pensioner deceived by telephone scammers. However, the bank's employees prevented the crime, and the young man was detained while trying to take the fake money. Later, the damage to the victim was fully compensated.

The defendant fully admitted his guilt and expressed remorse. According to him, he decided to get a job as a courier by responding to an ad in the messenger. Barnabas claims that he understood the fact of transporting funds, but did not know either the exact amount or the amount of the expected reward.

In January, the Mytishchi City Court of the Moscow region found Barnabas' nephew guilty of aiding and abetting telephone fraud under Part 3 of art. 30, Part 3 of art. 159 of the Criminal Code ("Fraud"). He was sentenced to forced labor for a period of one year and eight months.
