Russian films "Red Silk" and "Pinocchio" will be shown in Kazakhstan
Russian films "Red Silk" and "Pinocchio" will be presented in Kazakhstan as part of the Russian Film Festival, which will be held in Astana from April 23 to 26. This was announced on April 20 by the press service of Art Pictures Distribution.
The event will be held as part of the Days of Russian Culture in Kazakhstan: at the festival, organized by ROSKINO with the support of the Russian Ministry of Culture, viewers will be able to see popular Russian films.
"The Russian Film Festival in Kazakhstan is an important event that unites our countries through art and cinema. The event will be another significant step towards strengthening friendship between our peoples, developing interstate cultural exchange and further fruitful cooperation," said Olga Lyubimova, Minister of Culture of the Russian Federation.
"The screening of the films Pinocchio and Red Silk in Kazakhstan opens up new opportunities for strengthening cultural ties between our countries and increasing audience interest in modern Russian cinema. We see that both classic stories and new projects resonate with an international audience and become part of a common cultural space. The film "Pinocchio", based on the classic plot, continues to unite viewers from different countries and generations, offering a modern interpretation of a story familiar from childhood. In turn, "Red Silk" has already become the most successful Russian film at the foreign box office by the end of 2025 and has confirmed the high audience interest both in Russia and abroad, including distribution in China. I am sure that Kazakhstani viewers will appreciate these paintings. For us, this is an important step in the development of dialogue between countries and peoples through cinema," said Svetlana Balanova, General Director of the National Media Group.
The festival program will feature a musical family film adaptation of "Pinocchio" and a Russian-Chinese spy detective story "Red Silk". The international distributor of paintings is Art Pictures Distribution.
"For Art Pictures Distribution, festival screenings are not only an opportunity to present films to the audience, but also an important tool for developing international partnerships. Both projects are already actively operating in foreign markets and confirm the high export potential of Russian cinema. "Red Silk" and "Pinocchio" have proven themselves extremely successful at the international box office — we expect that the festival in Kazakhstan will become a growth point for further deals and expansion of their presence abroad," said Anastasia Korchagina, CEO of Art Pictures Distribution.
Earlier, Russian films were shown at festivals in Armenia, Singapore, Thailand, Belarus and other countries.
On March 24, Medialogia presented on its website the Russian series rating, which consists of the 100 most popular projects of the past year. Russian President Vladimir Putin said on March 25 that Russia has a brilliant education system in the field of art and culture, so it must be supported. In addition, he noted the need to teach children, adolescents and youth more deeply and systematically about the contribution of Russian art to world culture. Putin also drew attention to the fact that in recent years, the Russian Federation has devoted many efforts to the development of the national film industry.
