- The businessman who killed his comrades for the sake of money was caught 33 years later.
Investigators from the Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia (TFR) in the Perm Region have detained an alleged participant in a double murder committed in 1993. According to the Izvestia source, the man killed his colleagues for the sake of 20 million rubles. He involved relatives in the crime.
The person involved is Elmar D., a 56—year-old native of Azerbaijan, who received Russian citizenship several years ago. He was detained in the south of Russia as part of efforts to solve crimes of previous years.
According to investigators, in 1993, three companions came from Transcaucasia to the Perm Region to purchase wood and building materials. They had 20 million rubles with them (before the denomination, it was about the cost of a VAZ 21093 car). Elmar D., as law enforcement officers believe, decided to embezzle money and kill his partners, for which he attracted relatives. Both men died from stab wounds. Details of the massacre and the distribution of roles were not disclosed.
The crime could not be solved without delay, but the suspect's identity was identified and he was put on the wanted list. The tracks led to Azerbaijan, but the man escaped arrest there. Presumably, he invested the proceeds in a business, later moved to Russia, escaping the attention of law enforcement officers (possibly using forged documents), naturalized and settled in the south of the country. According to Izvestia, his son is also successfully engaged in business in Russia.
