Over the past day, 207 road accidents have occurred on Russian roads, in which 20 people were killed and 238 injured. 18 of the dead were drivers and passengers. This was reported to Izvestia on March 12 by the State Traffic Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.

So, in the Republic of North Ossetia – Alania, in the morning, on 15 km of the Malgobek—Mozdok regional highway, a 28-year-old female passenger car driver fell asleep at the wheel and drove off the road, after which the car overturned. The motorist died.

As a result of 69 accidents, 39 of which occurred at pedestrian crossings and 30 outside their area of operation, two pedestrians were killed, and 70 more were injured in various degrees of severity. Among the injured were 15 underage pedestrians, 11 of whom were injured while crossing the roadway in designated areas.

15 accidents involving buses were recorded, in which one person was killed, and another 16 road users, including one child, required medical assistance. Eight bus accidents were caused by traffic violations committed by drivers of other vehicles. There were also 23 accidents involving minors, in which 25 young road users, including 10 passengers, were injured. There are no dead children.

The State Traffic Inspectorate reminded motorists that the lives and health of their passengers depend entirely on their driving skills, driving experience, well-being and law-abiding driving behavior. It is necessary to abandon risky driving, exceeding the permitted speed limit, sudden changes of lanes, overtaking and other dangerous maneuvers. It is important to always reserve time for yourself in order to have time to adequately respond to a possible change in the traffic situation at any moment.

The department drew the attention of drivers to the strict observance of the rules for transporting children. Since the beginning of March, 155 road accidents involving underage passengers under the age of 16 have occurred on Russian roads, in which six people were killed and 182 children and teenagers of this category of road users were injured.

In addition, temporary restrictions or traffic closures were introduced in some regions of the country due to adverse weather conditions. So, in the Orenburg region, due to snow, blizzard, strong gusty winds and the resulting restrictions on visibility, traffic on 20 highways of regional significance has been temporarily stopped for a day. In the Kurgan region, for the same reasons, the movement of buses and trucks along the federal highway R-254 "Irtysh" was temporarily restricted all day yesterday at the entrance to the city of Ishim from 397 km to 480 km and on the highway R-254 "Irtysh" from 350 km to 466 km.

In the Omsk region, sections of the federal highways R-402 Tyumen — Yalutorovsk — Ishim — Omsk from 376 km to 612 km, R-254 Irtysh from 656 km to 948 km, R-254 Irtysh (Southern bypass of the city) were blocked all evening until night for the passage of trucks and buses. Earlier that day, the insurer said that Moscow had once again become the most emergency region in Russia, accounting for 9% of all road accidents in the country by the end of 2025.
