Representatives of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) have approved another loan of $8.1 billion to Ukraine as part of a new four-year assistance program. This was announced on February 26 in a statement on the agency's website.

"The IMF Executive Board has approved the allocation of $8.1 billion under the Expanded Fund (EFF) program for Ukraine," the text says.

The first part of the provided financing in the amount of $1.5 billion will be sent to Kiev "immediately." It is assumed that all funds will have to be spent on maintaining macroeconomic stability and rebuilding the country.

On the same day, the IMF assessed Ukraine's needs under the established four-year program. So, according to their calculations, in the period from 2026 to 2029, this country will need to attract external financial resources in the amount of $ 136.5 billion. According to analysts, this year the "gap" of $52 billion will be filled, including through the distribution of funds across the European Union (EU), financing of the G7 countries, and bilateral support.
