Melania, the wife of US President Donald Trump, will chair the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) for the first time on March 2. This was reported on February 26 by the Fox News channel, citing a source.

"Melania Trump is going to make history as the first lady to head the United Nations Security Council by delivering a speech dedicated to peace through education," the statement said.

It is specified that Melania Trump will devote her speech to issues of education, technology, peace and security.

In March, the United States will assume the presidency of the UN Security Council. In April, this role will be transferred to France.

On February 26, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov humorously answered a question from journalists about what, in Moscow's opinion, the new Secretary-General of the United Nations (UN) should be. The United Nations officially began searching for a candidate to replace the new secretary General of the association in November last year. The next Secretary General will take office in January 2027.
