SBU officers detained a resident of Kiev on suspicion of arms trafficking
Law enforcement agencies of Ukraine have detained a resident of Kiev on suspicion of illegally selling weapons, the Ukrainska Pravda newspaper reported on February 26.
It is noted that before the sale, the detainee kept weapons in the hospital, of which he was an employee.
"The sale of a Glock 21 pistol for $2.9 thousand, a Scorpion submachine gun for $1.8 thousand, and a Makarov pistol for $1.9 thousand were documented. The man was detained during a meeting with a customer," the Kyiv regional prosecutor's office said.
During searches of the Kiev resident's home, investigators also seized a significant amount of weapons and ammunition, including hand grenades. The detainee was charged with suspicion of illegal possession of firearms.
The Ukrainian newspaper Insider reported on February 25 that SBU officers had detained the logistics commander of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), as well as the head of the SBU department for the Zhytomyr region. It is specified that the detainees organized the theft of funds for the construction of protective structures for airfields.
