Vladimir Potanin, President of Norilsk Nickel, spoke via video link with businessman Oleg Tinkov (listed as a foreign agent in Russia) before buying shares of T-bank from him. He said this in an interview with Forbes magazine on February 26.

"I had not met Oleg Tinkov before and did not know him personally. I offered to make a video call, if only to express my respect to the person who created a good business. We got to know each other, talked, and I asked: "Oleg, do you have any suggestions?" He says: "There are no wishes, the main thing for me is to quickly take La Datcha away from Russia, according to some assessment," Potanin said.

He noted that Tinkov's team was looking for a buyer who was willing to pay quickly and who could be approved by the regulator. According to him, it took three to four days to prepare for the deal, and its total cost, which included the bank, bonds and La Datcha, was about $400 million. At the same time, according to Potanin, La Datcha was soon sold.

"I'm telling you all this because there was speed in this deal, but not mine. I'm setting my team up for the fact that you need to be able to take good deals and make a quick decision on them. In a way, I'm even more proud of this than of my property, because I taught my guys how to quickly prepare a solution," he shared.

On February 19, Potanin appealed to the Moscow Arbitration Court with a demand to ban his ex-wife Natalia Potanina from continuing the trial in the High Court of London. The applicant believes that the proceedings in the English court may lead to a review of the 2018 decision of the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation on the division of property between former spouses, which has already entered into force.

In 2019, it was reported that Potanin's ex-wife filed a lawsuit in a London court demanding a division of property. It was clarified that she wants to receive £5.8 billion (about $7 billion) through the British court. On July 27, 2017, the Presnensky Court of Moscow refused to recover 850 billion rubles from Potanin in favor of his ex-wife Natalia as compensation for stakes in Cypriot companies.
