Czech Prime Minister Andrei Babis announced on January 19 that he had bought a large and beautiful globe to get a better orientation on the location of Greenland.

"I bought a globe for this, <... It's so beautiful and big to see exactly where Greenland is," Novinky quotes him as saying.

At the same time, the head of the Czech government noted that Prague does not intend to make statements about the support of Greenland and its inhabitants. According to him, such statements have no practical meaning, and reaching an agreement remains the key factor.

Earlier in the day, Dutch Foreign Minister David van Wil said that Amsterdam was ready to "show its teeth" to US President Donald Trump in the event of an attack on Greenland. He also noted that the application of trade duties against the European Union (EU) countries that supported Denmark's sovereignty over Greenland is an inappropriate and unnecessary step.

Also, on January 19, TV2 reported on the deployment of Danish troops to Greenland.

On January 14, Trump reiterated that US relations with Denmark are "good," but Greenland is necessary for Washington to ensure national security. Nielsen noted that he considers the "repeated rhetoric" of the United States regarding the island to be disrespectful and unacceptable.

All important news is on the Izvestia channel in the MAX messenger.
