Alcohol consumption in the Vologda Region, against the background of restrictions on the sale of alcohol in December 2025, decreased by 0.23 liters/person compared to the previous month. This is evidenced by Rosstat data from January 19.

According to statistics, in November last year, alcohol consumption was at the level of 9.84 liters of ethyl alcohol per capita. However, over the past December, the indicator dropped sharply to the level of 9.61 liters per person, which roughly corresponds to the September level.

In October, the Governor of the Vologda Region, Georgy Filimonov, announced plans to introduce additional restrictions on the retail sale of alcohol from March 1, 2026. They will be connected to premises in apartment buildings, catering points. The head of the region noted that for entrepreneurs who consider it economically impractical to continue working in such conditions, a business change to grocery stores within walking distance will be proposed.

In January, Filimonov reported that all 610 alcohol markets operating in the Vologda Region had closed, stopped selling alcohol, or had been redesigned. The head of the region stressed that the concept of "alcohol market" no longer exists in the region. In addition, 218 of 316 vaping shops in the region have stopped working, Filimonov added.
