By the end of 2025, the Russian car market dropped to 13th place in the world ranking. A year earlier, he was 11th, but now he has lost ground to Italy and Mexico. Sergey Tselikov, director of the Autostat analytical agency, told about this on December 13 in his Telegram channel.

China ranks first in the ranking in terms of new car sales with a score of 23.77 million units (+3.9% year-on-year). The United States ranks second (16.3 million units; +2.3%), and Japan ranks third (4.57 million units; +3.3%). India rounded out the top five (4.48 million units; +9.7%) and Germany (2.86 million units; +1.4%).

Brazil, Great Britain, Canada, South Korea and France followed. Italy, Mexico and Russia, as well as Spain and Turkey rounded out the top 15.

Among the above—mentioned countries, the Russian car market recorded the most serious drop in sales - by 15.6%. In France, sales decreased by 5% over the year, in Italy — by 2.2%. In other markets, only positive dynamics are noted from the rating.

Earlier in the day, it was reported that by the end of 2025, the total volume of the Russian car market decreased by 19% compared to 2024 and amounted to 1.49 million units. In the segment of medium-sized trucks, the market fell by 44%, while the volume of the heavy-duty truck market more than halved (-54%).
