Murashko sent specialists to the Kemerovo region after the deaths of the babies.
Russian Minister of Health Mikhail Murashko ordered a group of federal experts to be sent to the Kemerovo Region to check the work of the maternity service. This was announced on January 13 by Alexey Kuznetsov, Assistant Minister of Health of the Russian Federation.
As noted by TASS, specialists from the Kulakov National Medical Research Center for Obstetrics, Gynecology and Perinatology, as well as the St. Petersburg State Pediatric Medical University, have left for the region. Alla Samoilova, head of Roszdravnadzor, has been appointed head of the interdepartmental group.
According to the Investigative Committee of Russia, investigators and criminologists are working at Novokuznetsk Maternity Hospital No. 1.
Obstetric hospital No. 1 of the city clinical hospital No. 1 named after G.P. Kurbatov in Novokuznetsk temporarily stopped receiving patients. As clarified on January 13, this decision was made due to an increase in the incidence of respiratory infection.
Shortly after, nine babies were reported dead in the hospital. In addition, the UK confirmed the death of newborns. Because of the incident, a criminal case was opened in accordance with Part 3 of Article 109 of the Criminal Code ("Causing death by negligence"), part 3 of Article 293 of the Criminal Code ("Negligence").
As a result, the governor of Kuzbass, Ilya Seredyuk, temporarily dismissed the head physician of the hospital in whose maternity hospital the babies died. According to the Izvestia source, all infants were diagnosed with either intrauterine or neonatal infection. It was these infections that caused the critical complications.
