The son of the deposed Shah, Reza Pahlavi, expressed his willingness to return to Iran and even lead the country during the transition period. He announced this on January 11 on the Fox News channel.

"I am ready to return to Iran at the first opportunity. I am already planning this," Reza Pahlavi said.

He added that he was allegedly being urged to "step in and lead this transition period."

On the same day, CNN reported that the death toll during the protests in Iran had risen to 78 people. It was noted that the demonstrations covered more than 180 cities of Iran.

Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei said on January 9 that the Iranian youth and the entire nation must maintain unity, which will allow them to defeat any enemy. After that, Iran's Supreme National Security Council accused the United States and Israel of organizing unrest in the country.
