"Amir Saeed Iravani, Iran's ambassador and representative to the United Nations, condemned Trump's interventionist and inflammatory statements and emphasized Iran's inalienable right to defend its sovereignty, territorial integrity, national security and the protection of its people from any foreign interference," the agency said in a statement posted on its Telegram channel.

Iravani noted that Iran intends to exercise its right to self-defense in a "decisive and proportionate manner" in the event of external aggression. The letter also states that the United States will bear full responsibility for any consequences of possible illegal threats and the subsequent escalation of tension.
