During the winter of 2026, Transnistria faced the threat of new difficulties related to the supply of gas to the region. This was announced on December 30 by Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin.

"The gas supplied to the left bank of the Dniester is currently barely enough to cover the social needs and the most pressing needs of Pridnestrovian industrial enterprises," Galuzin told RIA Novosti.

According to the diplomat, currently there is barely enough fuel for industrial enterprises. The diplomat recalled that the reason for the problems was the termination by Ukraine of the transit of "blue fuel" from Russia through the territory of the country from January 1, 2025.

"As well as the desire of Chisinau and Brussels to condition the normal supply of energy resources to the region with politicized conditions unrelated to this area," the representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry added.

On December 18, the Parliament of Pridnestrovie resumed the operation of the economic emergency regime for 30 days due to a gas shortage. The Pridnestrovian CEP regime has been introduced for the third time, the Supreme Council of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic (PMR) clarified.

On October 9, deputy of the Supreme Council of the PMR Andrei Safonov, in an interview with Izvestia, noted that Moldova wants to subjugate Pridnestrovie by undermining the economy of the unrecognized republic.
