Almost 300 kg of Kamchatka crab was seized from poachers in the Murmansk region.
In the Murmansk region, law enforcement authorities suppressed the activities of an organized group that specialized in the illegal sale of Kamchatka crabs. This was announced on December 30 by the official representative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia Irina Volk.
According to law enforcement officials, a resident of the village of Teriberka, together with an accomplice, organized a scheme for the supply of illegally caught crabs to the central regions of the country. After the catch, the best specimens were transported to a hangar with aquariums in Murmansk, then packed in foam containers and shipped to the regions.
"Operatives detained the suspects in the Kandalaksha district at the moment when they were taking out another batch of unmarked goods in a minibus," Wolf wrote on the Telegram channel.
It is specified that during searches in the suspects' places of residence and at production facilities, 77 live crabs with a total weight of almost 300 kg were found.
On December 3, Volk reported that a suspect had been detained in the Astrakhan region and 6.5 tons of sturgeon fish transported in a truck disguised as vegetables had been seized. A criminal case has been initiated, and all participants in the illegal trafficking of aquatic biological resources are being identified.
