The prosecutor requested a life sentence for the accused of the murder of General Kirillov.

The prosecutor asked to sentence Akhmadjon Kurbonov (listed as a terrorist and extremist) to life imprisonment, accused of murdering the head of the radiation, chemical and biological protection forces Russian Armed Forces (AF) Lieutenant General Igor Kirillov and his assistant, Major Ilya Polikarpov. This was reported to Izvestia on December 24 by one of the participants in the trial.

According to him, the prosecution has requested terms from 24 to 28 years for the remaining defendants.

Kirillov and his assistant died on the morning of December 17, 2024, as a result of the detonation of an explosive device planted in a scooter at the entrance of an apartment building in Moscow. On September 20, 11 people were recognized as victims in the criminal case of the murder of General Kirillov.

On October 8, the Investigative Committee (IC) of Russia completed an investigation into the terrorist attack in which Kirillov died. It was clarified that for a long time they had been preparing for the crime on the territory of Ukraine. In the fall of 2024, the organizers planned to ship components of an improvised explosive device disguised as household items from Poland to Russia.

On November 5, the court began considering the criminal case against Akhmadjon Kurbonov, Robert Safaryan, Batukhan Tochiev and Ramazan Padiyev (listed as terrorists and extremists). On the same day, due to the prevention of the threat, the court closed the trial in the case. It was noted that Kurbonov and Safaryan pleaded guilty.

On November 6, the Russian Interior Ministry sent a warning to the Second Western District Military Court about threats against participants in the trial of the terrorist attack that killed Kirillov. According to the information available in the department, persons who disagreed with the conduct of a special military operation intended to enter the court sessions.
