Mikhail Leus, a leading specialist at the Phobos Weather Center, suggested on December 22 that 2025 could be the warmest year in Moscow in the history of meteorological observations.

"While talking about what the weather will be like for the New Year, we almost missed one important point — the year 2025 in Moscow may become the warmest in the history of meteorological observations," Leus wrote on his Telegram channel.

According to him, in 2025, the average annual temperature in the capital reached +8.5 degrees. The forecaster noted that from 1991 to 2020, the average temperature in Moscow was +6.3 degrees.

"And in order to become the warmest in history, December 2025 must finish with an average temperature of at least -5 degrees, so it has every chance," Leus concluded.

On the same day, Tatiana Pozdnyakova, a leading specialist at the Meteonosti news agency, reported that a sharp change in the weather was expected in Moscow this week, with a transition to frosty and snowy conditions. Already in the afternoon on Monday, a cold atmospheric front will arrive in the capital, which will bring snow and lower temperatures.

All important news is on the Izvestia channel in the MAX messenger.
