Artificial intelligence (AI) is a part and continuation of energy and has become the basis of current technologies in oil and gas production. This was announced on December 22 by Russian Energy Minister Sergei Tsivilev, answering a question from Izvestia at a press conference as part of the summing up of the Ministry of Energy's work for the year.

"Did you know that AI is part of the energy industry? This is a continuation of energy. Now transport is a continuation of energy, money is a continuation of the energy of digital currency, AI is a continuation of energy," Tsivilev said.

The Minister stressed that currently everything that is being done in the fuel and energy complex (fuel and energy complex) is based on AI and digital counterparts. Tsivilev added that this use of technology allows us to move forward, and domestic digital technologies used in the fuel and energy sector are not inferior to foreign ones.

"We are proud of our specialists who work in this field, and we have companies that have more than 10,000 employees who deal only with AI," said the head of the Ministry of Energy.

The minister added that there are risks when using AI, but if we work with artificial intelligence correctly, it will be for the benefit of the country and people.

Earlier, on December 18, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said in an interview with Izvestia that Russian President Vladimir Putin was attentive to the topic of AI. According to him, it is important to introduce artificial intelligence technologies in such a way that they benefit rather than harm.
