Bundestag DEPUTY Kiesewetter called for the transfer of Taurus missiles to Kiev
On December 14, Roderich Kiesewetter, a member of the Bundestag from the Christian Democratic Union, announced the need to transfer Taurus long-range missiles to Ukraine and provide it with reliable security guarantees.
"Until we deliver the Taurus missiles <...> Russia will remain completely indifferent," the Tagesspiegel newspaper quoted him as saying.
He also called on Europe to take over air defense over western Ukraine and not "demonstrate its readiness to provide reliable security guarantees."
Earlier, on September 6, it was reported that half of the German residents supported the deployment of Bundeswehr troops in Ukraine. Such survey data was provided by the Wahlen research group. It was noted that only 4% of the respondents believe in a speedy and sustainable end to the conflict, while 94% consider this unlikely.
On September 4, Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said that Germany and a number of other countries "have not learned anything from history." She also drew attention to the fact that German Chancellor Friedrich Merz and the head of the European Commission (EC) Ursula von der Leyen repeat the mistakes of their predecessors.
