Thief-in-law Sergei Brazhensky's sentence was overturned
The First Court of Appeal overturned the verdict of thief-in-law Sergei Brazhensky, nicknamed Rams, in the case of occupying the highest position in the criminal hierarchy and attempted drug trafficking on a large scale. This was reported to Izvestia in court on December 11.
"The guilty verdict has been overturned with the transfer of the case to a new trial," the decision says.
The investigation found that Brazhensky has had the status of a thief in law since 1993. He coordinated the actions of organized criminal groups in Moscow and the Moscow region, and also maintained contacts with other criminal authorities, including Oleg Medvedev, nicknamed Shishkan.
Rams was detained in 2021. During a personal search, a package with a narcotic substance was seized from him. The case against Brazhensky, according to the Moscow City Court, began in July 2024.
In May, the Moscow Regional Court sentenced Rams to nine years and three months in a high-security penal colony. Prior to that, the court recovered more than 44 million rubles from convicted members of the Taganskaya organized crime group. Depending on their role in the group, the attackers were found guilty of, among other things, creating and participating in an armed gang and criminal community, murder, kidnapping, and theft. It was clarified that the organized criminal group was organized back in the early 1990s, and its activities were suppressed in 2019.
