- Naryshkin pointed to Russia's non-interference in the internal affairs of other countries.
Russia does not interfere in the internal affairs of other countries, and unlike Western countries, it does not engage in regime change. This was announced on December 10 by Sergey Naryshkin, Director of the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR).
"I would like to debunk a very common myth that intelligence allegedly seeks to penetrate the state apparatus, political and public institutions of Western countries in order to identify weaknesses in them and prepare plans to undermine them in order to eliminate strong competitors. This, of course, is not the case," the head of the SVR pointed out in an article for the Scout magazine.
He noted that Russia's foreign intelligence service provides the Russian leadership with data on the real situation abroad in a particular area, as well as on the true intentions of foreign authorities.
"This makes it possible to avoid making spontaneous and thoughtless decisions fraught with unpredictable consequences, including the threat of military conflicts," Naryshkin said.
Earlier in the day, Naryshkin said that the Russian special services carry out their work exclusively within the limits of their powers, which are fixed by regulatory legal acts and the legislation of the Russian Federation in general.
