The judicial district of the justice of the Peace found Ilya Yashin, a former Moscow municipal deputy, guilty of evading the duties of a foreign agent (recognized in Russia as a foreign agent, included in the Rosfinmonitoring list of terrorists and extremists). He was sentenced to 1 year and 10 months in a general regime penal colony in absentia. This was reported on December 9 by a correspondent of Izvestia.

The state prosecution requested that he be sentenced in absentia to 1 year and 11 months in a general regime penal colony.

On December 1, 2023, the court fined and decided to find Ilya Yashin guilty of committing an administrative offense under Part 4 of Article 19.34 of the Administrative Code and impose an administrative fine of 45 thousand rubles on him.

Later, on June 20, 2024, the Moscow City Court held a hearing on the protocol on violation of the procedure for the activities of a foreign agent in relation to Yashin. The court rejected his appeal. In December of the same year, the Interior Ministry put the politician on the federal wanted list.
