According to the program of the national project "Infrastructure for Life", cities located on the Northern Sea Route (NSR) will be developed as a matter of priority. This was announced to Izvestia on December 8 by Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin.

This national project is designed to improve housing, transport, social and communal infrastructure, and covers the whole of Russia, including the north.

"We believe that this is a very promising area. The NSR provides development to the entire north of our country, starting from the Far East, to Arkhangelsk, to Murmansk, and St. Petersburg. <...> All the cities that are located on the Northern Sea Route, and even small towns, have become strongholds that will develop as a priority," he said.

Khusnullin noted that we are talking about the development of settlements, the creation of jobs, landscaping and capital repairs of the housing stock. Priority funding will also be allocated to transport infrastructure.

"We are developing this program comprehensively and will fulfill almost all our plans by the end of this year," the Deputy Prime Minister stressed.

The Governor of the Murmansk Region, Andrey Chibis, said on November 24 that cargo traffic along the Northern Sea Route is provided by industrial projects until 2035. Chibis also stressed the need to think over the product base for the next few years in order to maintain the sustainable development of the NSR after 2035.

Earlier, on November 6, at a government meeting, Russian Finance Minister Anton Siluanov said that as part of the budget amendments, more than 75.5 billion rubles would be additionally allocated for the repair and construction of road infrastructure. Then he noted that the changes would be carried out within the framework of the national project "Infrastructure for Life".
