- Patrushev called for full waste treatment in the Northwestern Federal District by 2030
In the Leningrad Region, they discussed how effectively the entire Northwestern Federal District copes with the task of recycling garbage. Every year, the region accumulates about 4.5 million tons of waste, which is a tenth of the volume of the entire country.
In the next five years, their processing level will need to be increased to 100%. So far, most regions of the north-west are coping with the planned indicators, which is largely facilitated by the introduction of new capacities.
"In the previous six years, 33 waste management facilities were built in the macroregion, five projects are to be implemented this year, and nine more next year. According to the decree of the President [of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin], by 2030 at least 25% of waste should be recycled, that is, there is a long way to achieve this target," said Dmitry Patrushev, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation.
According to the Deputy Prime Minister, it is now important not only to create waste management facilities, but also to develop the market for secondary raw materials.
On December 4, Dmitry Tortev, a member of the expert council of the State Duma Committee for the Protection of Competition, told Izvestia that a closed—loop economy continues to form in Russia, with waste recycling industries developing, the introduction of recyclables into construction and the production of everyday goods, including increased tire recycling capacity.
