Former England national football team player detained in a rape case
The former Premier League player was detained at London Stansted Airport on suspicion of rape. This was reported on December 1 by The Daily Star portal, citing a source from The Sun newspaper.
"He was passing through passport control when he was unnoticed by border guards. There was clearly a problem, and he was led away," the newspaper quoted the source as saying.
The publication clarifies that the victim contacted the police a few weeks ago with a statement about an attempted rape. At the request of the police, border guards detained the man on the evening of November 30, when he was trying to fly abroad.
The football player was taken to the police station, where fingerprints were taken and DNA samples were taken. After the interrogation, the suspect was released on bail, the investigation continues.
The British tabloid Mirror reported on October 9 that an easyJet passenger tried to rape a woman on a flight from Naples to Edinburgh. The defendant in the case is 45-year-old Nicola Cristiano, who appeared before the High Court in Glasgow. According to the investigation, the man undressed on the flight and tried to persuade the woman to have sex through harassment.
