Putin called Trump's plan a possible basis for agreements on Ukraine
Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the American peace plan could become the basis for future settlement agreements in Ukraine. He announced this on November 27 at a press conference after a state visit to Kyrgyzstan.
"There were no draft agreements. There was a set of issues that were proposed to be discussed and formulated definitively," he said.
Putin clarified that the Russian side generally agrees that the US proposals can be used as the basis for agreements, but some issues are of a fundamental nature. The President also noted that the United States has begun to take into account Russia's position in the negotiation process.
He also said that Russia had received proposals after the Geneva meeting, and all 28 points needed to be divided into four separate components for further discussion. The Head of State added that now it is important to translate all the proposals into diplomatic language and hold serious negotiations on specific issues.
CNN reported on November 26 that Ukraine had not agreed with three points of principle for Russia in the US administration's peace plan to resolve the conflict. According to the TV channel, the first point that Kiev did not accept concerns the territories of Donbass, which are still under the control of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). It is noted that "some progress" has been made on this issue, but it still requires agreement on the wording.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on November 25 that the situation around the American plan for a peaceful settlement of the Ukrainian conflict is an information orgy. He clarified that due to the initiative, a lot of contradictory data and statements are being published. Peskov added that Trump's Ukraine project could be a very good foundation.
