Mother's Day, which is celebrated in Russia on November 30, is gradually becoming one of the key family holidays. Ormatek experts conducted a study and found out how residents of the country congratulate their mothers and what gifts they choose for this day. The survey data was reviewed on November 28 by Izvestia.

The company noted that interest in the holiday is growing: 32% of Russians celebrate it annually, and another 13% do it for the first time. Only a small part of the respondents (8%) do not consider this day a reason for congratulations or did not know about its existence before. At the same time, 16% prefer to give warm words rather than things.

According to the study, over half of the respondents believe that mothers do not expect expensive gifts and more often create a festive atmosphere by setting the table and gathering the family. Others believe that the most important thing for women on this day is the attention of their children (27%) and their spouse (18%), and small signs of attention from management, according to 3% of respondents, are also important.

The financial plans of the participants also turned out to be diverse. Almost half of the respondents (48%) are ready to spend up to 3 thousand rubles on a gift, another 28% — up to 5 thousand rubles, and 16% — up to 10 thousand rubles. 10% of respondents have the highest budget. The choice of gifts forms a pronounced preference rating: home textiles and cozy things are in the first place, which 34% of Russians plan to purchase. They are followed by sweets and gastronomic sets, cosmetics and perfumes. 28% of respondents choose clothes, jewelry and accessories, while 12% choose appliances.

In addition, the popularity of intangible gifts continues to grow. One in five wants to organize a spa day, 11% — a cultural event, 10% — a trip. 8% consider training or a gym certificate, while 15% of respondents prefer creative gifts, including handmade and poems. Only 7% choose a monetary gift, while 3% admitted that they would give a grandson to a mother.

Flowers still occupy a central place in congratulations: 36% of Russians are going to give a bouquet, and 20% believe that it should complement any gift. However, 18% prefer potted plants as a more durable and personal option. About 10% refuse floristry if their mother does not like flowers, another 9% consider the bouquet too banal. A small proportion of respondents buy them in advance to save money.

On November 27, the analytical agency VMT Consult and the charity project Svobodnaya Liniya conducted a study and found out how Russians plan to spend Mother's Day. According to the survey, 22% of participants plan to celebrate this holiday on the last Sunday in November, 53.7% are not going to celebrate, and 24.4% have not yet decided. At the same time, 58.5% of respondents intend to congratulate their mother, regardless of their own plans for the holiday. The majority of participants are women, 87.8% of them.
