The rapid growth of interest in artificial intelligence has changed the labor market and led to the emergence of new professions, but few companies have already felt the direct financial benefits of technology. Employers continue to actively generate demand for AI specialists, despite the delayed effect of investments. Daria Kudryavtseva, Director of Human Resources at Selecty Group, told Izvestia on November 21.

She clarified that only 38% of companies that have implemented neural networks have recorded revenue growth, however, it is banks, Internet services and telecom operators that continue to develop personnel demand and generate high salaries. Kudryavtseva explained that less than a quarter of companies independently develop AI products, while the majority prefer to transfer projects to external developers or use ready-made solutions.

"It is often difficult for companies whose IT is a non—core area to set clear terms of reference for the implementation of artificial intelligence. Hiring a professional on staff often becomes an unreasonably expensive step, which is why many choose the project employment of an IT specialist through outsourcing," the expert said.

She drew attention to the fact that AI professions have evolved significantly in recent years: if machine learning engineers or NLP specialists were a novelty four years ago, now they have clear requirements and a well-established income level. Salaries range from 150,000 rubles for junior specialists to 600,000 rubles for senior ML engineers, and compensation for architects of complex AI systems can reach 700,000 rubles. Specialists in LLM and generative AI receive 20-30% more.

The most scarce candidates are at the senior level, since highly qualified work requires experience that cannot be obtained in several years of new professions.

"Since investments in AI technologies are high and require competent management, companies implementing AI technologies have begun to think about the need for artificial intelligence directors. They control the entire infrastructure and data architecture. Their tasks also include the introduction of neural networks into business processes and the development of new products. At the same time, the requirements of different employers can be very individual," Kudryavtseva said.

In addition to developers, there is a growing demand for employees who implement AI in applied tasks: marketers, logisticians, accountants. The expert explained that such specialists can develop both deep into their professions, finding new ways to apply technologies, and in breadth — by training employees of customer companies.

The expert also noted the growing use of AI in creative professions. According to her, technologies are actively entering the field of art: digital archivists use neural networks to restore cultural objects, media curators form visual and semantic interpretations of works created by AI, and art engineers create installations and generative graphics in museums and theaters.

On November 21, Anton Vasiliev, director of the Hexlet IT College, told Izvestia how a passion for games can develop into a career path. Currently, we see how the labor market within game development (a multibillion-dollar, technologically complex industry) is fragmented into increasingly narrow and complex specializations. In addition to programmers and 3D artists familiar to the industry, professions that almost no one had heard of five years ago are coming to the fore. For example, a game designer of virtual and augmented realities.
