Russian companies are able to carry out full inspections of aircraft, including foreign ones, which are part of the fleet of domestic airlines. This was announced on November 18 by Russian Deputy Prime Minister Vitaly Saveliev.

"From the point of view of service, we have a sufficient number of certified enterprises in the Russian Federation. Our companies are fully able to carry out aircraft inspections, which, in fact, we are successfully doing," Saveliev said in a comment to Rossiya 1 TV channel.

He noted that more than 1.1 thousand passenger liners are currently in operation in the Russian Federation. There are enough enterprises in the country to serve them.

Earlier, on October 8, the head of the Federal Air Transport Agency Dmitry Yadrov announced that work had begun on the issue of retrofitting Superjet passenger aircraft from Russian-French SaM146 engines to domestic PD-8. To implement this initiative, it is necessary to complete its certification. Yadrov noted that each engine, imported or domestic, has its own resource ceiling, after which it needs major repairs. Therefore, in the end, domestic aircraft with foreign engines will have to be retrofitted.
