- Zabaikalsky wildlife sanctuaries harvested 40 tons of hay for animals for the winter
In Transbaikalia, wildlife sanctuary inspectors harvested 40 tons of hay in order to feed wild animals in winter. The Directorate of Specially Protected Natural Areas purchased about 2 thousand kg of feed salt and the same amount of oats.
According to Alexander Buzinov, director of the State Institution Directorate of Protected Areas of Transbaikalia, quoted by ChitaMedia news agency, hay, birch and aspen brooms are harvested for feeding wild animals in the summer and autumn period. Harvesting must be carried out due to the fact that most animals face difficulties in obtaining food during severe frosts and when the snow is very deep.
Salt and oats are the most important components of biotechnological measures. They are usually placed in feeders and salt pans. 25 new salt pans and 30 feeders were made in the reserves, 70 information stands were installed.
Earlier it was reported that the entrance fee to specially protected natural areas was introduced in the Trans-Baikal Territory. The cost of one visit is 100 rubles. Local residents living on the border with nature reserves are exempt from this fee.
