The central bank has started blocking large transfers to itself through the Fast Payment System, regarding them as fraudulent transactions. However, Anna Sokolova, a lawyer at the Moscow Region Bar Association and mediator at the Moscow Chamber of Commerce and Industry's Center for Legal Aid and Mediation, explained to Izvestia on November 12 how to safely move funds between her accounts.
"For regular transfer of salaries or other income, I recommend that you issue a standing order in the bank's mobile application for automatic transfer of the entire amount or the required part to the main account. This is the safest way that will not arouse suspicion from a financial institution," Sokolova said.
For one-time transactions, the expert advises that it is necessary to specify clear wording in the purpose of the payment: "Transfer of own funds" or "For your own needs." According to the lawyer, this helps the bank's analytical systems to correctly classify the transaction.
"You should not transfer several small amounts in a row immediately after receiving a salary or split a large amount into many small transfers in one day — such operations often arouse reasonable suspicion," Sokolova warned.
In case of verification by the bank, the expert recommends that you prepare documents confirming the source of funds in advance: a 2-personal income tax certificate, an employment contract, or account statements. If the bank requests an explanation, the legality of the origin of the funds can be quickly proved.
The lawyer also warned about the dangers of phone scams. She reminded that under no circumstances can transfers be made according to the instructions of people posing as employees of the bank, police or security service. All operations must be carried out solely on your own initiative after careful verification of the details.
Earlier, on November 6, it was reported that banks have the right to block customer accounts if atypical activity is detected. In such cases, they limit remote service and ask the client to clarify the nature of the transactions, and if necessary, suspend transfers for two days.
