- The expert revealed the main mistakes in the insulation of country houses for winter living
Proper insulation of a country house for winter living requires strict adherence to physical principles, the main of which is to increase the vapor permeability of materials from the inside out. As Fyodor Vasiliev, a construction expert and founder of GLAVSNAB, told Izvestia on November 13, violation of this rule leads to condensation of moisture inside the structure, which causes the walls to freeze and fungus to develop.
"Exterior wall insulation remains the gold standard, while interior insulation is acceptable only in exceptional cases when exterior work is physically impossible. For external insulation, two proven technologies are needed: a hinged ventilated facade and a wet facade," he said.
The first method involves the creation of a multilayer structure with a vapor barrier membrane, mineral wool and hydroelectric protection with a mandatory ventilation gap, which ensures durability and effective ventilation. The second method involves gluing insulation boards followed by plastering, creating a monolithic coating with an aesthetic appearance, but requiring professional execution.
The expert paid special attention to the frequent mistakes that negate all efforts to insulate. One of the most severe will be the confusion in the films, when instead of a vapor-permeable membrane, a vapor barrier is installed outside, which completely blocks the exit of moisture from the insulation. Equally critical is the lack of a ventilation gap in ventilated facades, which leads to the accumulation of moisture and loss of thermal insulation properties. Saving on insulation thickness is also recognized as a serious mistake — for walls in the middle zone of Russia, a minimum of 150 mm of high—quality material is required, and for floors and ceilings - 200-300 mm.
Vasiliev stressed that 90% of the problems after insulation are related to a violation of technology, and not to the quality of materials. He also noted the importance of fully sealing the vapor barrier using special adhesive tapes and tapes, as well as the need to work only with dry structures. According to preliminary estimates, the complete insulation of a country house with the involvement of specialists can cost 400-420 thousand rubles, including materials and work on all structures — from the walls to the attic floor.
On March 11, Rosreestr said that not all buildings located in the suburban area must be registered, since they do not have a strong connection to the ground, they can be moved without disproportionate damage to the purpose of the structure. It was clarified that this type of buildings includes outdoor showers and toilets, baths and sheds, as well as greenhouses and various non-residential structures.
