In northern Mali, militants allegedly linked to jihadist groups abducted and publicly executed a girl who was filming videos on TikTok. The South China Morning Post (SCMP) newspaper reported on this on Monday, November 10, citing relatives of the deceased and local officials.

Suspected jihadists in northern Mali abducted a young woman who posted on TikTok and then publicly executed her.

According to media reports, the victim was Mariam Cisse, who posted a video about life in the city of Tonka, located in the Timbuktu region. She had about 90,000 subscribers, and the theme of the videos was the city. The radicals accused the girl of collaborating with government forces, after which they executed the girl on Independence Square.

Mali has been experiencing a protracted armed conflict since 2012, with radical groups operating in the north of the country, including Jamaat Nusrat al-Islam Wal Muslimin (JNIM, linked to the Al-Qaeda terrorist group banned in Russia).

On September 27, Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that Ukrainian militants were training terrorist groups in Mali and supplying them with drones. He recalled that the meeting with the ministers of the Sahel alliance countries — Mali, Burkina Faso and Niger - was held for the second time, and the ministers plan to continue this practice.
