In an emergency, it is important to contact the appropriate services as soon as possible. You can do this from any landline or mobile phone. Izvestia tells you how to call an ambulance, police, fire or gas service and what to tell the operator.

A single emergency number

In Russia, there is a single emergency number — 112. It is the same for all telecom operators and is available even if there is no SIM card or the phone is locked for non-payment. The operator will take the call and send the right specialists to the person — doctors, firefighters, police officers or gas workers.

How to call an ambulance

There are several numbers available for calling an ambulance. Dial 03 from a landline phone and 103 from a mobile phone. You can also use a single emergency number 112.

When contacting the ambulance service, you must inform the dispatcher of the following information::

  • what happened (accident, fight, fall, loss of consciousness, etc.);
  • the presence of a threat to life;
  • the exact number of victims, are there any children, elderly, pregnant women among them;
  • patients' condition and symptoms;
  • exact address: street, house, entrance, intercom code, floor, apartment, landmarks (if the person is on the street);
  • Full name and age of the victim;
  • contact phone number for communication.

After transmitting the basic information, it is recommended to clarify the procedure with the dispatcher before the arrival of the doctors. Depending on the situation, an ambulance or emergency medical team can be sent to the call. The first one comes if there is a threat to life, the second — if there is no threat to life, but the person cannot independently come to the medical facility.

When the ambulance arrives:

  • disorders of consciousness and breathing;
  • acute body pain;
  • signs of stroke and heart attack;
  • serious injuries and bleeding;
  • thermal and chemical burns;
  • acute poisoning;
  • childbirth and the threat of termination of pregnancy;
  • mental disorders with a risk to others.

The time of arrival of an ambulance according to the regulations should not exceed 20 minutes. A time limit of up to two hours is set for emergency care.

How to call the police

Everyone who is confronted with an offense has the right to contact the police. You can do this by calling the following numbers: 02 — from a landline phone, 102 and 112 — from a mobile phone.

Any incident can be the basis for contacting the police.: from an obvious crime (murder, theft, fighting, shooting, etc.) to a potentially dangerous situation (noise at night, drunken company under the windows, suspicious person on the playground, etc.). Experts note that responsibility is provided only for deliberately false calls. If a citizen has grounds for concern, he has the right to seek help. Even if the results of the check show that nothing illegal has happened, the call will not be considered false.

When contacting law enforcement agencies, it is necessary to inform the operator of the following information:

  • Full name and contact details of the applicant;
  • the exact location and time of the incident;
  • the nature and circumstances of the offense;
  • the number of participants and the presence of victims.

The applicant has the right not to disclose his name and contact information — anonymous messages are also subject to mandatory registration and verification. However, a lack of information can complicate the work of police officers.

All calls are recorded in the register of reports of crimes and administrative offenses and incidents (CUSP), they are assigned individual numbers. Depending on the circumstances, an operational investigation team is being formed, which will go to the scene of the incident. It may include an investigator, a criminologist, a dog handler, a traffic patrol officer, a district policeman, and other law enforcement officers.

How to call the fire department

In case of fires, smoke or a strong smell of burning, you should urgently call the fire department. Citizens' appeals are accepted by numbers 01 (from a landline phone), 101 and 112 (from a mobile phone).

In case of a fire, it is important to remain calm and act quickly — every minute of delay can lead to casualties. In a conversation with the dispatcher, you need to inform the following:

  • what happened (fire, smoke, etc.);
  • the exact address of the fire;
  • type of burning object (apartment or private house, warehouse, office, garage, etc.);
  • what exactly caught fire (wall, roof, household appliances, car, building materials, etc.)
  • entrance number, floor, how best to approach the building;
  • your contact information.

After the applicant provides the address, a fire brigade will be immediately dispatched to the specified location. The operator will transmit all additional details to the firefighters by radio. The average arrival time for firefighters is 10 minutes in the city and 20 minutes in rural areas. At the end of the conversation, the phone line should be released — if necessary, the dispatcher will call back. You need to wait for firefighters on the street at a safe distance from the burning object.

How to call the gas service

If a gas odor is detected, you should immediately contact the gas service, because even a minor leak can cause a tragedy. Calls are accepted by numbers 04 (from a landline), 104 or 112 (from a mobile).

It is recommended to make a call from a safe place — on the street or from a neighboring house. The dispatcher should be informed of the exact address of the incident, the nature of the problem, and their contact information. If the symptoms of poisoning appear in the victims, it is necessary to additionally call an ambulance.

Before the arrival of the emergency service, you must:

  • turn off the gas tap;
  • organize the ventilation of the room;
  • exclude the use of open flames and electrical appliances;
  • evacuate people from the contaminated area.

According to current regulations, the gas service must arrive no later than 40 minutes after the call.

If there is no smell of gas, but problems are noticeable in the operation of the gas equipment (the devices are running slowly, do not heat up to the desired temperature, errors appear on the display, etc.), it is necessary to contact the gas distribution organization responsible for maintenance. This should be done at the first sign of a breakdown, because using faulty equipment can be dangerous.
