A group was arrested in the Irkutsk region for extortion of funds and kidnapping. This was announced on November 7 by the press service of the Investigative Committee (IC) of Russia.

It is specified that in 2024, the defendants in the case decided to illegally seize someone else's property. The men offered a local resident to buy a car from them in installments, and later the sellers demanded money from the victim. Having taken the vehicle, they began to threaten him.

The attackers then abducted the young man, put him in a car, and took him to a room where one of the attackers offered him a contract to participate in a special military operation. At the end of October 2024, after signing the contract and receiving the payment, the victim transferred funds in the amount of 700 thousand rubles to the participants of the criminal group.

"Currently, seven defendants between the ages of 19 and 39 have been charged. At the request of the investigation, the court chose a preventive measure in the form of detention," follows from the publication in the Telegram channel.

During the searches at their places of residence, law enforcement officers seized weapons, knives and equipment.

Earlier, on May 15, three people suspected of abducting an acquaintance and extorting 5 million rubles from him were detained in Podolsk. It was clarified that the defendants approached a local resident they had previously known and, against his will, placed the man in a car, handcuffed his hands and demanded the transfer of funds.
