On November 6, Tomio Okamura, a Japanese-born businessman and leader of the Freedom and Direct Democracy party, who was elected to the post of the new speaker of the Chamber of Deputies of the Czech Parliament, asked to remove the flag of Ukraine from the building of the chamber, which had been hanging there for three years.

"I have just ensured that the Ukrainian flag was removed from the building of the Chamber of Deputies," he wrote on his page on the social network X (ex. Twitter).

The politician attached a video clip to this message, in which the banner is removed from the flagpole. At the end of this operation, Okamura, standing in the frame, said to the solemn melody "The Czech Republic comes first!".

X users were divided into two camps: some supported this decision and thanked the new speaker for this decision, while others severely criticized this action.

Filip Turek, the candidate for the post of the new Czech foreign minister, said a day earlier that his country intends to reduce military assistance to Kiev and focus on achieving a diplomatic settlement of the conflict. According to him, the Government of the Republic is focused on meeting its security needs.
